Thirty five stakeholders here will benefit this week from a Regional Security System (RSS) Incident Command System Course (ICS).

Participants are drawn from the Police Force, Fire Department, Coast Guard, Her Majesty’s Prisons, SVG Cadets Corps, the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), the Ministry of Health, Argyle International Airport (AIA) and the SVG Port Authority.

The training course is being conducted from today November 27 to Thursday November 29, 2018 during the hours of 8:30am to 5:00pm at NEMO Conference Room.

Speaking at the opening ceremony this morning, Michelle Forbes, Director of NEMO, said the main objectives of the training are to improve St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ joint emergency services response to critical incidents – especially at the Command and Control level; to enhance the multi-sectoral approach to the management of an incident or event; and to standardize the on-scene multi-sectoral coordination and management of an incident.

Ms. Forbes issued a challenge to the institutions participating in this three-day course to have the ICS institutionalized within their organizations.

The facilitators for the training course are Brigadier General (Retired) Mr. Earl Arthurs, Project Officer at the RSS Training Institute and Warrant Officer One St. Clair Williams, Assistant Staff Officer at the RSS Training Institute.
