The International Airport Development Company (IADC) says remedial works are being done on two small sections of the Argyle International Airport runway.

A release from the IADC says that combined, these two small sections amount to just 2% of the total paved runway. The work being done involves removing and replacing the top layer of asphalt in the two areas.

The IADC says it continues to do quality control tests on all areas of the airport and these two small areas of the runway were recently assessed to require remedial work, hence it took the decision to do the repair work before the airport becomes operational.

The work currently being done is expected to be completed by today February 3, 2017.

Meanwhile, a Full Emergency Exercise is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 4, at 3:00pm at the Argyle International Airport.

This is one of several activities to take place over the coming days as final preparations continue for the official opening of the airport on February 14.
