Member of Parliament for North Leeward, Roland ‘Patel’ Matthews returned to the state on Friday February 16, 2018 after representing the New Democratic Party at the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) 2nd Growth and Resilience Dialogue with Social Partners in St. Kitts/Nevis on February 15, 2018.

The event which was a follow up of the inaugural dialogue organized in 2017 was held under the theme “Working Together to Raise Growth Levels and Build Resilience in the ECCU.”

While in St. Kitts, Matthews worked with other social partners as part of a working group which addressed such topics as “Building our human resources capacity for growth and sustainability in the OECS sub region.”

Commenting on his participation in the event, Matthews said “the issues of economic growth and sustainability and the region’s vulnerabilities to the effects of climate change are very serious.”

Complementing the ECCB on a successful event he said “to solicit the support of Opposition Parties of the sub region and to bring all stakeholders to the table to develop solutions to the many troubling and pressing problems facing the OECS was visionary.”
