Opposition leader and President of the New Democratic Party, Dr. Godwin Friday, has announced the appointment of Israel Bruce as Senator in the House of Assembly.
Dr. Friday made the announcement yesterday morning, while speaking at the first press conference hosted by the NDP for 2019.
He told reporters that in a letter dated January 18th 2019, he advised His Excellency the Governor General Sir Frederick Ballantyne, in accordance with section 28 of the Constitution – to appoint Mr. Bruce as Senator and similarly, in accordance with Section 29 of the Constitution, to revoke the appointment of Ms. Zita Barnwell.
Ms. Barnwell served as an Opposition Senator since the Parliament resumed after the 2015 General Elections.
