The Government of Martinique on Monday February 11th launched a gun amnesty following two recent fatal shootings in the capital, Fort de France.

According to St. Lucia Online News citizens of Martinique were invited to hand over their weapons to the police, from February 11th to March 31st 2019.

The report said no administrative or judicial sanction for possession of an illegal weapon – will be taken against persons who take advantage of the amnesty.

On the morning of Saturday February 9th, a man was killed in his car while on Sunday February 10th another male was shot dead, during an altercation in the Alaric neighbourhood.
