The government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines has signalled its intention to renovate the Lewis Punnet Home at Glen, transforming it into a modern facility to house indigent elderly persons.

Plans in this regard were outlined briefly by Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Sustainable Development, Camillio Gonsalves in his presentation of the 2018 Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure in parliament last week.

Minister Gonsalves said residents of the Geriatric facility will be relocated to a temporary facility, during the period that the current structure at Glen is demolished and rebuilt.

He noted that visiting the Lewis Punnet Home is “an emotional experience to see sometimes the condition of the most vulnerable among us.”
