A historic women’s shot put medal from Jamaica’s Danniel Thomas-Dodd is highly anticipated on today’s second and first full day of competition at the IAAF World Indoor Championships at Arena Birmingham in the English.

Thomas-Dodd has dominated the Jamaican women’s throw for the last two seasons with a string of national records, the latest coming just last month when she raised the indoor shot put mark to 19.05meters, second best in the world this year and best among those declared for the event.

Meanwhile, eleven Jamaicans will be in action today, including five in three events that will be decided today, the women’s 60meters, women’s shot put and men’s long jump.

According to the Jamaica Observer, Elaine Thompson, who won a bronze in the 60meters two years ago when the event was staged in Portland, Oregon in USA, will lead a trio of Jamaicans in the short sprint.

Damar Forbes will be seeking his first global medal in the long jump, while there will be first-round heats in the men’s and women’s 400meters, men’s 3,000meters and the women’s 1500meters.
