The deadline for duty free concession on barrels imported during the 2015 Christmas season has been extended.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has extended the Christmas Barrel concession to Friday January 15th, 2016, according to information received from the Office of the Prime Minister.

The Duty Free Concession on Christmas barrels commenced here on Monday November 9th, 2015 for a 15th consecutive year.

This concession programme began in 2001, and as of yesterday January 5th, 2016, a total of 34,140 barrels have so far been cleared from Port Kingstown.

This is the largest figure since the concession began in 2001.

Last year the figure was 31,224. The 2013 figure was 28,180 while the 2012 figure was 28,403.
