Caribbean Development Bank funds have been released for a project which seeks to reduce the vulnerability to extreme rainfall and other climate change impacts of some 22,000 people here.

The Board of Directors of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) approved the package of US 11. 435 million dollars, which includes a US 11. 2 million dollar loan and grant funding of US$235,000.

Persons living in the Georgetown, Bridgetown and Marriaqua communities will benefit, as roads, bridges, river defenses and slope stabilization will be put in place, in these communities.

At the signing of the agreement, which took place yesterday on the sidelines of the CDB Board of Directors Meeting at the Beachcombers Hotel at Villa, CDB President, Dr. William Warren Smith expressed satisfaction with the number of beneficiaries the project will have.
