Females are being encouraged to heighten their awareness about breast cancer.

Breast cancer which is the most common type of cancer in St. Vincent and the Grenadines has become one of the leading causes of death among women in most societies.

President of the SVG Medical Association, Dr. Roslind Ambrose advises that breast self-exam, or regularly examining your breasts on your own, can be an important way to identify abnormalities and help catch cancer in its early stages.

Dr. Ambrose said that in recent years there has been a spike in the cases of breast cancer both locally and globally.
Last Friday, the SVG Medical Association staged its 14th Annual Pink Cap City Walk.

The October activities for Breast Cancer Awareness 2018 will culminate with a 5K run from the Arnos Vale Playing Field to the Lotto Tennis Court at Richmond Hill on Sunday October 21, beginning at 6am.
