The Windwards Islands Volcanoes reached 24 for 1 at stumps on day one of their West Indies Championship 4 day game at Sabina Park on Friday.

This in reply to Jamaica Scorpions’ first innings score of 210 runs.

The not out batsmen for the Volcanoes were Tarryck Gabriel, who is unbeaten on 4 and Roland Cato, who is not out on 7, while the Scorpions conceded 18 extras.

The batsman dismissed, was the key scalp of Devon Smith, who was caught at gully by John Campbell for 5, off the bowling of Reynard Leveridge.

Earlier the Jamaicans would have been embarrassed had it not been for a fighting 81 from Assad Fudadin. He faced 234 balls and hit 4 fours and 3 sixes and was supported by Chadwick Walton, who made 52.

For the second game in a row Jamaica Scorpions were bamboozled by left arm orthodox spin with the left arm duo of Kavem Hodge and Larry Edwards bowling with excellent control. Hodge took 4 for 40 from 20 overs and Edwards took 2 for 64 from 20 overs
