Ernesto Cooke is the main newsman at WE FM and also doubles as an announcer. His deep ‘radio voice’ accentuates any presentation. He produces and presents Early Edition, writes and reports for the Midday News and Presents the 5:30 p.m. News Package.
In addition to his news committments Ernesto has become an integral part of WeFM's Morning Show.
Cooke also holds down the mid-morning shift on Sundays, and is an excellent substitute as host of any of the major programs
Val Matthias loves tough challenges and thrives on them.
Val, who joined WeFM in 1998, knows the strength in music to motivate his listeners and he uses that power to make it happen for his fans on WeFM.
Monday to Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.Val takes control of the airwaves and provides listeners in SVG, and other Islands of the Caribbean with the best in music and news. Val is also very popular with our Internet community.
Val grew up in Trinidad, and needless to say, he loves Soca. You can tell from listening to him on the Radio.
Don’t be misled; beneath that manly voice and graying hair lies the power of Youth.
Val loves putting his creative talents to work in production and consequently takes the lead in our productions department.
Maurice Horne – “The Aquarian born” is a recognized MC and former Disc Jockey. An actor and playwright, Horne’s works tackle current social issues.
He loves classical music and the overwhelming response from his ‘Sunday Classics’ audience drives his enthusiasm for the show, which has been running since 1999.
A trained social worker, stand-up comedian and physical fitness enthusiast, Earl ‘Ole George’ Daniel believes true health lies in taking care of mind, body and soul.
Earl is a well-rounded individual, perfect for the task he sets himself; that of providing an open line after midnight when most people don’t want to be disturbed and when, he believes, most bad things happen.
He’s a former Nurse, has worked in Customer Service for an airline, has journalistic experience and his core strength and discipline, he says, come from the decade he spent in the Cadet Force.
“Ole George” has run several marathons in his lifetime. His pace has slackened, but he’s still on the move; now he walks, long walks, an entire country at a time. He plans to walk the entire Caribbean.
Covering the Sunday night spot on WE FM is his first stint in radio.
The journey since 1997, he says, has been amazing. Listener feedback is tremendous and while ‘Sunday Cruise’ fans describe his show as captivating and soothing, Scottie says it’s therapeutic for the host as well.
A lawyer by profession, Stephen Huggins has a passion and immense appreciation for the Calypso art form. He’s on a mission to keep it alive and vibrant, to preserve something unique and to educate the young.
Stephen is easygoing and somewhat introverted unless you know him well.
Jamella Parsons is our Administrative Assistant and has been employed with We Fm since 2005 and deals with the day to day running of the business. Despite being in the office, this November born has a great voice and a passion for music.
Beneath this full figure of hers, lies an outspoken and vibrant young lady who admires life and all it has to offer. Ms. Parsons studied Business and Administration for two years at the St. Vincent Technical College.
Lindel Matthews also known as ‘DJ Maka’ has been with We FM since 2006 and enjoys every bit of it during his Monday to Friday shift from 10 am to 2 pm along with his ‘Energy Saturday’ music programme from 10:30 am. He is a versatile young lad, who loves music.
DJ Maka gets full of energy when he indulges in soca, dancehall and reggae music. In his spare time, outside of work, he enjoys playing at various functions and works well when he substitutes on other shifts.
