The stage is set for the official launching of Vincy Mas 2017, tomorrow May 6.
The activities will kick off with the traditional whistle stops on both the Windward and Leeward sides of the island beginning at 10 in the morning.
In addition to the whistle stops, there will be an innovation called the ‘Bus Line’, whereby a bus will be going along with the music truck and make stops in certain areas.
Later in the day there will be the ‘Celebration Train’ parade featuring all components of Carnival.
Anthony Dennie, Shows Coordinator, at the Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) said the street parade is scheduled to begin at 5:30pm from the Cruise Ship Terminal in Kingstown to the Victoria Park.
Meanwhile, Mr. Dennie, says persons who have Monday Band T-shirts from any year, over the past 40 years of Vincy Mas, can take those along and will be given automatic entrance to be a part of the celebration train through the streets of Kingstown tomorrow. They will also benefit from a special 50% discount on their ticket cost to enter Victoria Park for the Carnival launch.
Mr. Dennie says the launching ceremony at Victoria Park is scheduled to start at 7pm and will hear remarks from CDC Chairman, Ricardo Adams, and Minister of Tourism and Culture, Cecil McKie, to be followed by a number of performances, as well the appearance of the Miss SVG 2017 contestants.
