The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) is encouraging persons to have all their trees overhanging roads cut, ahead of the 2018 Atlantic Hurricane Season.

The 2018 Atlantic Hurricane Season commences on June 1 and this season is forecast to be above average.

Director of the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), Michelle Forbes says having people cut their overhanging trees continue to be a challenge for her organization.

Miss Forbes said NEMO is continuing to focus on improving its Emergency Early Warning Systems and she is appealing for vigilance throughout the entire six-month period of the Atlantic Hurricane Season.

She says if these trees fall in times of disaster they can block road ways and hinder rescue efforts and she is appealing to people to have their trees cut.
