The first group of Vincentians, who will benefit from the Miracle Mission – Eye Care Programme, are scheduled to leave the state soon for Caracas, Venezuela where they will undergo surgery to correct their vision.

The group comprising 14 persons was pre-selected during the visit earlier this year of a team of Venezuelan Medical experts.

They were scheduled to leave for Venezuela this afternoon but this has been postponed to a later date due to the re-scheduling of the aircraft from Caracas.

In April this year, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Governments of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Venezuela to allow for the continuation and expansion of the Vision Now Programme.

The Programme which deals with eye care for Vincentians, especially the removal of cataracts was initially launched in 2005 between the governments of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Cuba.
