The Board of the Vincentian Association of Artists, Writers and Producers on Sunday awarded the winners of its 2017 Awards.
The Lifetime Achievement Award in Drama was presented to Mr. David “Darkie” Williams for his extraordinary career in creative writing, acting, directing and producing Award-winning plays and films.
The Harmonities Band was also awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award for their Life-work in playing Music using an indigenous form of instruments, for Carnival and Christmas, and entertaining many cruise visitors to our shores, as well as hotel guests.
The National Poet of the year 2017 went to Michael Peters who has been writing poetry for years.
The Board was particularly pleased with his new and different effort- the publication of a Volume of Poetry entitled “Spiritual Muses”, which is a collection of spiritually inspired writings.
In accepting his award at the official launch of the National Christmas and Nine Mornings Festival yesterday December 3, 2017, Mr. Peters expressed appreciation to the Vincentian Association of Artists, Writers and Producers for bestowing the award.
