Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced several social benefit policies on Thursday that will be delivered through a special ID card system, Carnet de la Patria, aimed at redistributing income and wealth in the country.

In a speech made from the Cuartel de la Montaña, in the capital city of Caracas, the president approved a benefit called the “bonus of kings”, which will positively impact more than 8 million families.

According to Telesur, Maduro also announced another project under development which will serve more than 500,000 pregnant women in the country, who will be granted a protection bond that will also be distributed through the Carnet de la Patria.

“This is very revolutionary, because the bond system that we have created with the Carnet de la Patria system this year will revolutionize what will be the redistribution of income, the distribution of national wealth in Venezuela,” pressed the President, adding that it as an affront to “neoliberal models” in places like Brazil, Argentina and Colombia.

In addition, Maduro announced that 20,000 computer tablets will be given to both the Somos Venezuela movement and the Barrio Adentro Mission.

Finally, the President will be reigniting the “My Well Equipped House” program, which provides appliances at affordable prices to working-class families.

Maduro said that this program will also be carried out through the Carnet de la Patria system “to go to the families that really need (it)”, after denouncing a network of corruption within the social program.

Venezuelans will also soon be able to systematize the information about their conditions and requirements through an application called veQR, where they will be able to register which material needs they have acquired or are lacking from Venezuela’s government.

The “revolutionary strategy”, said Maduro, has been designed to overcome the effects of the “economic war” against the country, which includes blockades and sanctions.
