Trinidad and Tobago national Shane Crawford has been placed on a United States terror list, which prohibits US nationals from engaging in any transactions with him.

Crawford was identified as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist by the US State Department and listed as a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago who is believed to be fighting with terror group ISIS in Syria.

He was one of six persons sanctioned by the US for supporting terrorism. The sanctions include freezing of any property or property interests under US jurisdiction.

Crawford appeared in an ISIS recruitment video last year where he called for Muslims in Trinidad to commit acts of violence against “non-believers”.

He first entered the public eye after being detained during the 2011 state of emergency and was investigated for an alleged plot to kill former Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar. Despite being detained for 14 days, no charges were laid against him.
