Two men have been held by the police as investigations continue into the rape and murder of a teenager in Guyana.
This was confirmed by the Guyana Police Force on Saturday.
The police report that the body of Leonard Archibald, age 13, has not been recovered but the men admitted to dumping his body in the Berbice river after they sodomised him into an unconscious state.
Leonard was last seen riding a relative’s bicycle in the East Bank Berbice last week Sunday.
He had reportedly left a party in a nearby village to go meet two of his sisters. Family members became concerned and contacted the police after the youth never returned home.
The suspects were reportedly arrested after persons in the area recounted that they had heard screams coming from the home of one of the men.
On Friday, the two reportedly confessed to the crime and led investigators to the area where they claim the teen’s body was dumped along with the bicycle that he had been riding.
