Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Minority Leader Watson Duke proved his point yesterday by swimming part of the journey from Tobago to Trinidad to protest the unreliable inter-island ferry service.

According to the Trinidad Guardian, many people took to social media yesterday in support of Duke while others doubted his ability to accomplish that feat.

The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard described Duke’s attempt to swim as “inherently dangerous because of the natural ocean currents between the islands”.

It reportedly took Duke just over four hours to make his way from Scarborough to Toco.

He dived into the choppy waters at Scarborough around 8.45am where close to 200 people had gathered to lend support. His colleagues, Assemblyman Farley Augustine and Dr. Faith Yaisley, also completed the voyage with him.
