The Public Health Department within the Ministry of Health Wellness and the Environment is hosting a series of consultations on Food Safety, for food vendors across St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Food Handlers Sessions form part of the Public Health’s 2019 carnival campaign, called “Food Safety is a must for Carnival – Don’t make your patrons fuss”.
During a consultation held today at the Kingstown Fish Market, Nichole Howard-Miller Environmental Health Officer told participants that food safety is important and if not practised, can and will lead to the spread of diseases – food poisoning and even death.
This training is undertaken to register food handlers for the second half of 2019, and for the Carnival Season and the Public Health department says persons who fail to obtain a Food Handler’s Certificate will be charged, for breaching the Public Health Act, 1977.
