Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves says St. Vincent and the Grenadines will be providing space within schools here for students from the British Virgin Islands (BVI), which was ravaged by Hurricane Irma, last week, if such a request is made.

“We will have to provide if the request is made, and I believe it will come, for some space at our school, particularly for those with CXCs and CAPE,” Prime Minister Gonsalves was quoted as saying according to a report by News 784.

Dr. Gonsalves was at the time addressing a Hurricane relief effort hosted by the Good Heart Foundation on Saturday September 9, at Heritage Square.

The Prime Minister said such provision was done here when Hurricane Ivan had devastated Grenada in 2005, so the process is nothing new.

On Friday, September 8, Prime Minister Gonsalves said that the Cabinet had approved for US $50,000 to be sent to the BVI to assist with relief efforts there.

He said US $50,000 was also approved to be sent to Antigua and Barbuda.
