St. Vincent and the Grenadines recorded its first homicide for 2017 on Tuesday when Randy Lawrence, an employee of the Bank of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, was shot dead outside a bar in Arnos Vale.

According to Police, Lawrence received approximately 5 gunshot wounds at about 7:00am on Tuesday February 14, 2017, in the vicinity of the Chill Spot Bar and Grill. He reportedly died at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.

Police have detained Junior Jarvis, a Public Relations Consultant, and journalist who formerly worked at the Searchlight Newspaper, for questioning in relation to the shooting.

The killing brings an end to a six-week stretch without any homicides here.

In 2016, this country recorded 40 homicides.
