The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Country Programme Specialist for St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Ms. Anneke Wilson has joined with health officials here in calling for persons to reduce the amount of salt they consume on a daily basis in a bid to avoid adverse health conditions.

Delivering remarks on Wednesday March 2nd, at a ceremony held at the Kingstown Clinic to launch a Salt Reduction Project, Ms. Wilson said most persons know someone who suffers Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension and its related complications.

Ms. Wilson noted that the chances of developing complications increases for persons who are hypertensive and obese, and those who engage in smoking.

She is therefore calling on persons, particularly teenagers and young children to become more physically active.
