The SVG Good Hearts Foundation has been congratulated for having taken the initiative to host a benefit concert in aid of persons in the Northern Caribbean, whose islands were ravaged from the recent passage of Hurricane Irma.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves in his address last evening at the benefit concert at Heritage Square said that the concert was a very important event.

Dr. Gonsalves noted that plans are also afoot for the hosting of a larger concert in early October.

During the concert, persons were given an opportunity to donate cash and items for the victims of the hurricane.

Prime Minister Gonsalves said he is pleased with the outpouring of support by the local Vincentian community to the Hurricane Irma affected countries. He made a personal donation of EC$5,000 towards the relief effort.

The Prime Minister further noted that the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines is advancing its position of solidarity not only in respects of its own efforts but also in collaboration with regional and international agencies to assist with the ongoing hurricane relief efforts.
