Tourism Officials here are anticipating a significant increase in cruise passengers arriving here during the 2017/2018 Tourist Season.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves speaking to reporters at a Media Conference this morning at Cabinet Room said that approximately 270,000 cruise ship passengers are expected to arrive here from October 26, this year, through to April 14, 2018.

According to Dr. Gonsalves this figure is roughly twice the number of cruise passengers who came here last year.

Due to the devastation wrought on the tourism sector in several Caribbean Islands that were hit by Hurricanes Irma and Maria, a number of cruise lines that were due to visit those affected islands have since rescheduled their itinerary.

Prime Minister Gonsalves said that in light of this, St. Vincent and the Grenadines may even see a further increase in cruise ship arrivals.
