The government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines has announced plans to appoint a non-resident ambassador to the State of Qatar, in its continued efforts to further enhance diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves made the disclosure this morning at a press conference at Cabinet Room.

The Prime Minister told reporters that St. Vincent and the Grenadines Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Her Excellency, Ingha Rhonda King, is to be formally named the non-resident ambassador to Qatar.

Prime Minister Gonsalves, who recently returned here from an official visit to Qatar, described Qatar as an “extraordinary country.”

He said apart from having signed an air services agreement, an agreement on legal affairs and one to broaden diplomatic relations, the two countries also plan to formalize several other agreements, shortly.
