The governments of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed a visa waiver agreement between both countries.

This visa-waiver agreement will allow for citizens of St. Vincent and the Grenadines to travel to the UAE, and for citizens of the UAE to travel to St. Vincent and the Grenadines without having to obtain a visa.

The agreement was signed by Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Sir Louis Straker.

Speaking at the signing ceremony this morning at Cabinet Room, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves said visa waiver agreements are very important and are an indication of the closeness between countries.

He said it is also an important step in people to people relations.

Meanwhile, Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy said the UAE government has great respect for the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the role it plays in the region.

She said they look to St. Vincent and the Grenadines not only as a friendly country but also a country that has significant influence and they are keen to continue to establish strong ties not only between the governments of both countries but also on a people to people level.

Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy is leading a High-Level delegation from the UAE on a state visit here.

On Wednesday May 2nd 2018, the delegation held meetings with Prime Minister Gonsalves and Governor General His Excellency Sir Frederick Ballantyne.
