St. Vincent and the Grenadines is a predominantly, overwhelmingly peaceful country, despite the incidences of crime and violence reported here thus far for 2018.

This is according to Prime Minister and Minister of National Security Dr. Ralph Gonsalves.

Speaking today on WEFM’s Morning program, Prime Minister Gonsalves, while not denying that there is criminal activity, expressed disagreement with the opinion voiced by the opposition New Democratic Party (NDP) that “the Vincentian people are questioning the capacity of the security forces to properly address this scourge.”

The Minister of National Security said he is well aware of what is happening in this country, and added that he regularly interfaces with the hierarchy of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force.

He noted that just yesterday he was engaged in discussion with the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Police, and several other ranks of the Police Force.

Dr. Gonsalves also alluded to the increased number of night patrols being conducted by the police.
