The Supervisor of Elections says the December 9th general election was generally conducted in a peaceful environment, but she has expressed profound disappointment with the latest display of disrespect meted out by a small sector of the Vincentian Community.

In a statement issued yesterday, Ms. Sylvia Findlay says she received a total of eight letters of complaint on Election Day on behalf of the New Democratic Party (NDP), all emanating from Equity Chambers, in Kingstown.

The letters of complaints dealt with: Slow Voting in Constituencies of Central Kingstown, West St. George and Marriaqua; an incident at Polling Station F1 in the Central Leeward Constituency; ULP Candidate being allowed to remain in Polling Station beyond maximum time in Central Leeward; Political Campaigning being broadcast on VC3 TV, and ULP Polling Agents canvassing and advising persons on who to vote for.

Meanwhile, Ms. Findlay has refuted several allegations emanating from the NDP, including a claim by Leader of the NDP Mr. Arnhim Eustace, that the Electoral Office provided two different Voters’ Lists to the NDP and the ULP outside agents in East Kingstown

Ms. Findlay says the Electoral Office provided two identical sets of Voters’ Lists to both parties on December 2nd, 2015 for distribution to their agents, contrary to claims.
