Students and teachers across St. Vincent and the Grenadines returned to the classroom today at the start of the new 2017-2018 academic year, after the long summer vacation.

Minister of Education St. Clair Jimmy Prince in his Back to School message said the challenges that will arise this new school year should not be looked at as daunting, but rather these should be used as stepping stones to experience the joys of success.

He extended a warm welcome to the little ones who are attending school for the first time, and he is encouraging all students to settle down, to work hard and to take proper care of school property.

The Education Minister urged the teachers to research and access new knowledge to be better able to reach their students, thereby increasing their output in the classroom.

Meanwhile, Minister Prince said is appealing to parents and guardians to take an active role in their child/children education, ensure that they are punctual for school, and to support the schools and teachers.
