The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC), with funding from the Australian Direct Aid Program, will be launching the SVGCC Waste Management Project.

The launch is slated for Wednesday April 26, 2017, at 1:00pm at the Villa campus.

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College is the leading and largest tertiary level institution in the country.

With a student and staff population of over 2000, tons of waste is generated each day by the College.

The College recognizes its role in the holistic development of the students and the environmental impact its daily activities have on the surrounding community.

As such, a composting site at the Villa campus will greatly serve to reduce the amount of organic material which is disposed in the general garbage and ultimately ends up at the country’s landfills.

The compost produced can be used as a fertiliser for crops grown in the Agricultural programme of the Technical and Vocational division of the College.
