The St. Vincent Electricity Services Limited (VINLEC) has announced an increase in the Fuel Surcharge rate applicable on bills for the month of January.

According to VINLEC, the Fuel Surcharge rate applicable on bills for the month of January is 33.26 cents per unit.

The December rate was recorded at31.42 cents per unit.

VINLEC says the increase in the Fuel Surcharge is primarily because of the increase in the quantity of fuel used to generate electricity. Furthermore, there was an increase in the average cost of fuel purchased to generate electricity.

VINLEC assures customers that it remains committed to ensuring its operations are efficient.

The company encourages customers to continue to conserve energy since the final bill amount depends on how much energy is utilised.
