Police have arrested and charged Tyrone Scarborough, a 45-year-old Labourer of Spring Village for Arson.

According to investigations, on August 2, 2018 at 6:30am at Cumberland Bay, Scarborough destroyed by fire one Kayak valued EC$3,500 and one yellow and blue 16 feet fiberglass boat valued EC$16,000, the property of Basil Scarborough, a 40-year-old Fisherman of the Spring Village.

Scarborough appeared before the Serious Offences Court and was sent for psychiatric evaluation at the Mental Asylum. He is to return to court at a later date for report.

Police have also arrested and charged Colonel Thorpe, a 34-year-old Unemployed of Diamond Village for murder.

According to investigations between 9:30pm on August 5 and 6:30am on August 6, at Diamonds Village, Thorpe for with malice aforethought caused the death of James Gould, a 54-year-old Electrician of Diamonds Village “By chopping him about his body with a cutlass”.

Gould’s death marks the 18th murder recorded here for 2018.

Thorpe is expected to appear before the Serious Offences Court today to answer the charge.
