Senator Carlos James has called for greater attention to be given to the provision of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET), particularly for youths in rural communities.

Speaking in Parliament last week during his contribution to the presentation of the 2016 National Budget, Senator James who is the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly said that since 2001 the Unity Labour Party (ULP) administration has done remarkably well focusing on education.

But, he said more skills programmes need to be designed to target young people, in an effort to improve their lives.

Meanwhile, Senator James said he is pleased that funds have been allocated in the Budget to retrofit several Adult and Continuing Education Training Centers, and added that he would like to see the roll out of more Information Communication Technology (ICT) programs at the facilities.
