Schools and young people in St. Vincent and the Grenadines are being encouraged to continue their participation in the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition, the world’s oldest English language schools’ writing competition.

Last year more than 12,000 students entered the Competition from across 46 Commonwealth countries and there was an increased number of entries from St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Thirty six entries were received from here with 16 receiving a gold, silver or bronze award.

The theme for 2019 is “A Connected Commonwealth”. There are two categories which includes the junior and senior.

The Junior Category applicants must be born on or after June 2, 2005 which will be under the age of 14 years.

Senior Category applicants must be born between June 2, 2000 and June 1 2005, from 14-18 years of age.
