There will be changes in the prices of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) with effect from Wednesday May 10, 2017.

This is in accord with the exercise of the powers conferred by the Price and Distribution of Good Act (Cap 161).

Retail prices reflect the average Spot prices in the months of December 2016, January 2017 and February 2017. As such, subsequent price changes will reflect average Spot prices in months after February 2017.

In Area One: Kingstown to Campden Park, and Kingstown to Arnos Vale. Area Two: Beyond Campden Park to Keartons, and Villa to Langley Park. And Area Three: Beyond Langley Park to Fancy, beyond Keartons to Richmond, the maximum retrial price for the 100 pound LPG cylinder will be $178.10. While in Area Four: the Grenadines, it will cost $199.10.

The 95 pound petrocaribe cylinder of LPG will cost $145 in Areas 1-3, and $166 in Area Four.

The cost for the 25 pound LPG cylinder in Area 1 will be $44.50; Area 2-$45.50; Area 3-$46.50; and Area 4-$49.50.

The 22 pound Petrocaribe LPG will cost $33.50 in Area 1; $34.50 in Area 2; $35.50 in Area 3, and $38.50 in Area 4.

While…the price for the 20 pound LPG will be $36.60 in Area 1; $37. 60 in Area 2; $38.60 in Area 3; and $41.60 in Area 4.

Under the Price and Distribution of Goods Act (Cap 161), no person shall sell, buy, or agree to sell or buy any goods at a price greater than the maximum fixed price of that good.

Any person who contravenes this provision is guilty of an offence and liable to a fine of not less than fifteen hundred dollars but not more than three thousand dollars but not more than fifteen thousand dollars.

Also, under this Act, sellers are obligated to provide to customers, once requested, a receipt or delivery slip showing the date of sale, quantity and type of LPG cylinder sold, and the price charged. Any person who contravenes or fails to comply with this provision is guilty of an offence.
