Trinidad and Tobago Energy Minister Franklin Khan said yesterday there will be “no rescinding” of the decision to shut down Petrotrin’s Pointe-a-Pierre refinery.

According to the Trinidad Express, Khan was responding to an ultimatum levied on the Government yesterday by Oilfields Workers’ Trade Union (OWTU) president general Ancel Roget that it either reverse the decision to close the refinery, call a general election, or face chaos.

Speaking to reporters following the launch of newly-rebranded State entity Trinidad and Tobago Television (TTT) at Maraval Road in Port of Spain, Khan reminded that the decision to shut down was one made by the board of Petrotrin, based on figures that were not adding up, and was approved by Cabinet.
