Prime Minister Dr.Ralph Gonsalves say the Public Assistance paid out to senior citizens will be raised by $25 in January 2016.
According to NBC News, Dr. Gonsalves made the statement yesterday while addressing the audience at a ceremony put on by the National Insurance Services (NIS) to honor pensioners.
Public Assistance is paid out to senior citizens who did not make enough contributions to the NIS to benefit from the minimum pension. The last increase in the public assistance benefit was four years ago.
