The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment is continuing to boost the capacity to deliver top quality services to patients with mental health challenges.
Dr. Dennis Navidad who recently joined the staff at the Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre assumed duties in the post of Psychiatrist.
Dr. Navidad is a USA-trained Psychiatrist with over 10 years of experience working in the field. He previously served as Associate Professor in Behavioral Sciences at the All Saints University College of Medicine.
Dr. Navidad complements the current medical staff at the Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre which includes two other physicians, trained in the areas of psychology and psychiatry, as well as a Clinical Psychologist.
The filling of the post of Psychiatrist is the latest measure the government has taken to strengthen and improve the mental health services in this country.
The newly renovated Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre which was re-opened in December 2016 at approximately $4.1 million dollars was carried out under the modernization of the Health Sector Project.
