Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has welcomed the news that this country will be removed from a black list of tax havens, after the Italian Parliament took the decision to abolish from January 1st, this year, the black list on Controlled Foreign Companies (CFCs).

This was revealed by Italy’s Prime Minister Matteo Renzi in a diplomatic note sent to Prime Minister Gonsalves.

Speaking at a press conference this morning, Dr. Gonsalves read the diplomatic note he received from the Italian Embassy in Caracas, Venezuela and reiterated that this country should not have been included on the list since it was given clean reports by other agencies including the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) that monitor and report on matters of compliance in the International financial Services sector.
