Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves is scheduled to leave the state today November 16, 2017, for Cuba where he will be holding meetings with several officials in Havana.

The discussions will be held prior to Dr. Gonsalves attendance at the Cuba-CARICOM Summit to be held in Antigua on December 8, 2017.

Speaking today on WEFM’s Morning Programme, the Prime Minister said that while in Cuba he will also take time out to have a medical checkup.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Gonsalves said he wants to make sure that the relationship between St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Cuba is strengthened.

He noted that in particular, he is hoping to further discussions on multi-destination tourism collaboration between St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Cuba, given that Cuba’s tourism is expanding tremendously.

Since the opening of the Argyle International Airport (AIA) on February 14, this year, many Cubans have been coming to St. Vincent and the Grenadines to do shopping.
