Prime Minister, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves is to meet with President of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Ma Ying-jeou, in Belmopan, Belize on Wednesday March 16th 2016.

Prime Minister Gonsalves left the state on Monday, March 14th to travel to Grenada, then on to Belize.

President Ma Ying-jeou is making a farewell visit to the Caribbean, as he is due to leave in May, to pave the way for the newly elected President to take office.

During his stay in Belize, President Ma will meet with that country’s Prime Minister, Dean Barrow, and the heads of Government of three of Taiwan’s diplomatic allies in the Caribbean – Prime Minister Gonsalves; Prime Minister Timothy Harris of St. Kitts and Nevis; and St. Lucia’s Prime Minister, Dr. Kenny Anthony.

Prime Minister Gonsalves is expected to return to the state later this week.

Minister of Housing, Informal Human Settlements, Lands and Surveys, and Physical Planning, Hon. Montgomery Daniel is acting as Prime Minister during Dr. Gonsalves absence.
