Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has left the state for New York, where he will be attending the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Prime Minister Gonsalves will address the Assembly and participate in several high-level discussions.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sir Louis Straker will also attend the session.

Speaking earlier today on WEFM’s Morning Programme, Prime Minister Gonsalves said he is scheduled to hold a discussion tomorrow with the Ambassadors of the Latin American and Caribbean Group (GRULAC).

Dr. Gonsalves said that while in New York, he will be attending several other engagements and will have a number of bilateral meetings.

The UN General Assembly opened on September 18, 2018 however the first day of the high-level General Debate will be Tuesday, September 25, and is scheduled to last for nine working days.

The theme of the general debate will be, ‘Making the United Nations Relevant to All People: Global Leadership and Shared Responsibilities for Peaceful, Equitable and Sustainable Societies.’
