Prime Minister His Excellency, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves earlier today delivered a lecture on “Reparations for Slavery and the Genocide of Native Peoples” within the framework of a protocol session of the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS).

Dr. Gonsalves was invited by the Permanent Mission of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the OAS, to deliver the lecture which was held from ten this morning in the OAS Building, known as “The House of the Americas”, located in Washington D.C.

In the invitation letter dated October 20th, 2015, Ambassador Bernardo Álvarez Herrera, Permanent Representative of Venezuela to the OAS and Chair of the Permanent Council said the remarkable command of Prime Minister Gonsalves on the topic of ‘Reparations for Slavery and the Genocide of Native Peoples’, would certainly enhance the discussion amongst the Member States on issues that still affect a great number of the hemisphere’s people.

Prime Minister Gonsalves is scheduled to return to the state tonight.
