Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has hinted at the possibility of seeking a fifth term in office.

Dr. Gonsalves is one of the longest serving heads of government within the 15-member CARICOM grouping.

He first led his Unity Labour Party (ULP) into office in the 2001 general election when it won 12 of the 15 seats in Parliament.

On December 9, 2015, Dr. Gonsalves led the ULP to an unprecedented fourth consecutive term in office.

Prime Minister Gonsalves had previously signalled his intention to step away from leadership of the ULP, but indicated he would continue to contest the North Central Windward constituency if asked by the party.

Speaking on Wednesday October 17th 2018 on WEFM’s Morning Program, Dr. Gonsalves disclosed his willingness to seek another term in office in the next general election constitutionally due in 2020.
