Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has called for greater collaboration among regional countries and international partners to address the problem of Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) in the Caribbean region.

He made the appeal at a High-Level Breakfast Meeting held last Thursday on the sideline of the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York to assess the progress made in combating NCDs in the region.

Addressing the gathering attended by Caribbean leaders, Prime Minister Gonsalves said that Chronic Non-communicable Diseases especially diabetes and hypertension constitute the major causes directly or indirectly, of morbidity in the Caribbean.

Dr. Gonsalves called on his regional counterparts to recommit their support for innovative approaches for addressing the NCDs problem.
