On Thursday May 16th and Friday May 17th, one thousand, seven hundred and eighty-five (1785) Grade 6 students will sit the final component of the Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA) in sixteen (16) centres throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
There are nine hundred and thirty (930) males and eight hundred and fifty-five (855) females registered.
The CPEA is an examination administered by the Caribbean Examinations Council for students exiting the primary cycle of their education.
The students will sit multiple choice papers in four (4) subject areas: Mathematics and Social Studies to be administered on Thursday, May 16th; and Language Arts and Science to be administered on Friday, May 17th. The multiple choice component of the assessment will comprise sixty percent (60 %) of their final score.
Each Multiple Choice paper consists of fifty (50) items with duration of one hour and fifteen minutes per paper.
The results of the CPEA are expected to be published in June. The Ministry of Education will conduct the secondary school placement exercise as usual.
In 2018, the overall pass rate for the CPEA was 87.43%. Christian Gieowarsingh of the Kingstown Preparatory School was the top student with an average of 95%.
