Members of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force are continuing to embrace opportunities to improve their academic status in various areas.

Corporal of Police (Cpl) Omaro Thomas, attached to the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force Band, is the most recent officer to have graduated from the University College of the Commonwealth Caribbean with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Human Resource Management.

The ceremony held in Jamaica at the National Arena Sporting Complex on July 23, 2017, saw some 713 students from across the Caribbean graduating with different disciplines at different levels.

Corporal Thomas represented the first batch of students who were recruited by the University from this country and was the first to attend a commencement ceremony in Jamaica, where the national flag of St.Vincent and the Grenadines was flown in his honor.

A release from the Police says, Corporal Thomas serenaded the audience with two musical renditions on the alto saxophone, which was both well received and touching, as some members of the audience were seen in tears.

“I am extremely proud of my accomplishment amidst several challenges. I have done something that my future self would thank me for. I have gained a wealth of knowledge in Management Theories, Policies, Principles and best practices etc. I hope to use the knowledge gained to enhance the organization as well as to motivate persons whom I may come into contact with,” said Corporal Thomas.

The Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force congratulates CPL Omaro Thomas and wishes him continued success as he continues to strive for excellence.
