The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is collaborating with the government and health authorities in this country in the fight against the Zika virus.

Word of this came from PAHO Country Programme Specialist for St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Ms. Anneke Wilson in her remarks yesterday at a media briefing hosted by the Ministry of Health.

Ms. Wilson said PAHO will be procuring items to aid the Vector Control Unit in its fogging operations, and the organization will also be providing bed nets to pregnant women.

According to Ms. Wilson, PHAO continues to provide ongoing surveillance assistance and updated information about the Zika virus which it sends regularly to the Ministry of Health.
